You can earn several titles in obedience. The first title will be the Companion Dog or UCD title from the novice class. You will need to earn 3 qualifying scores of 170 - 200 points under 2 different judges. Each exercise must have over 50% of the points for each one in order to qualify. The following exercises are Heel On Leash and Figure 8 for 35 points, Stand for Examination for 30 points, Heel Off Leash and Figure 8 for 35 points, Recall Over Jump for 35 points, Long Sit Stay for 30 points and the Honor Dog - Long Down Stay for 35 points. The Sit Stay and Long Down Stay are done in sight with you still in the ring.
The next title that you can earn is the Companion Dog Excellent or UCDX title from the open class. Again, you will need to earn 3 qualifying scores under 2 different judges. This class is divided into Open "A" and Open "B". Open A is for dog and handlers that have already earned the UCD, but have not earned any titlesof UCDX or any equaivalent organization title. Open B is for dog and handlers that have earned a UCD and a UCDX title already and are going for points for the famous Obedience Champion Title or UOCH. This is the class also that is open to obedience trainers and judges. Each exercise must have over 50% of the points for each one in order to qualify. The following exercises are Heel Off Leash and Figure 8 for 40 points, Drop on Recall for 30 points, Retrieve on Flat for 20 points, Retrieve Over High Jump for 30 points, Broad Jump for 20 points, Long Sit Stay for 30 points, and the Honor Dog - Long Down Stay for 30 points. In this class the Long Sit Stay and the Long Down Stay are done with the handler out of sight of the dog.
The next title to earn after the UCDX is the Utility Class or UUD title.You will need 3 qualifying scores under 2 different judges. This class is divided into a Utility A and a Utility B class with the same conditions as above with the Open class. Each exercise must have 50% of the points for each one in order to qualify. The following exercises are Signal and Heeling for 30 points, Scent Discrimination (Metal) for 30 points, Directed "Marked" Retrieve (from handlers side) for 30 points, Directed "Signal" Retrieve (sent from Handler, then directed) for 30 points, Consecutive Recalls (one with and one without Down) for 40 points, and Directed Jumping for 40 points.
The final title to earn is the Obedience Champion or UOCH title. The dog and handler will need to have the UUD title before attempting this goal.
