Weight Pull Titles and Class Placements

For a qualifying pull, a dog shall be required to pull a weighted vehicle 16 feet in 60 seconds or less without a foul. The round is complete and time recorded when the front wheels or the contact points of the sled runners first touch the finish line. A qualifying pull is required to move to the next round. A dog will be eliminated if it fails to make a qualifying pull, or fouls out. *To earn a qualifying ribbon or qualifying score at an UKC weight pull your dog must pull at least the requirements for the UWP title. See the below paragraph under Requirements for Weight Pull Titles.

A. Titles. The following titles shall be awarded for excellence in weight pulling.
1. United Weight Puller (UWP). 3 qualifying pulls on any format.
2. United Weight Pull Champion (UWPCH). 100 points on one format or all three.
3. United Weight Pull Champion Versatile (UWPCHV). 100 points on one format and another 100 points total from the other two different formats.
4. United Weight Pull Champion Outstanding (UWPCHO). 100 points on one format and another 100 points on only one other format.
5. United Weight Pull Champion Supreme (UWPCHS). 300 points. 100 points on each of the three different formats.
6. United Weight Pull Champion Excellent (UWPCHX). 250 points on one format or all three.

So you could earn all of the above titles. First you must earn the 3 qualifying pulls for the UWP. After that you can earn points to most of the remaining titles. Let's us say dog "A" earns 100 points on wheels only. They earned the UWPCH (100 pts). Then they earn 20 points on snow/sled and then they earned 80 more points on rail only. Now that dog has earned UWPCHV (total 200 pts). Then the dog earns 20 more points on rail only. Now that dog has earned UWPCHO(100 wheels, 100 rail- with 20 extra on snow/sled = 220 total). The dog earns the final 80 points on sled/snow and earns the UWPCHS (100 wheel, 100 rail, and 100 snow/sled = 300 pts).
The final title is the UWPCHX. Points for this title begin after you have earned the UWPCH title. So any points in any format that went to earn the UWPCH title would not count towards this UWPCHX title. The first 100 points on wheels would not count in this example for this title (-100). To earn this final title this dog "A" would need an additional 50 points (250 total) from any or all of the three formats. Example: The first 100 points on wheels would not count since those points were for the UWPCH title. So that leaves the dog with 100 pts on rail and 100 pts on snow still. (Assuming the owner/handler has achieved the UWPCHS title and has found enough snow/sled trials to go to.) The dog can earn the final 50 points from any or all the three different formats.

B. Requirements for Weight Pull Titles.
1.United Weight Puller (UWP). To earn this title, a dog must achieve a qualifying leg at three different U.K.C.-licensed weight pulls. A dog earns a qualifying leg by completing an uninterrupted pull of a weighted vehicle loaded with the following weights for 16 feet within 60 seconds:
a. On natural or artificial surfaces. Eight times the dog's body weight on the day of the event for events held on natural or artificial surfaces, or
b. On snow. Five times the dog's body weight on the day of the event for events held on snow, or
c. On rails. Ten times the dog's body weight on the day of the event for events held on a rail system.
2.United Weight Pull Champion (UWPCH). A dog must earn the United Weight Puller (UWP) title before it is eligible to earn points toward the United Weight Pull Champion title. A dog must earn 100 championship points in accordance with the following schedule to become a United Weight Pull Champion.
3.United Weight Pull Champion Versatile (UWPCHV). A dog must earn the United Weight Puller (UWP) title before it is eligible to earn points toward the United Weight Pull Champion Versatile title. A dog must earn 100 championship points on one weighted vehicle and an additional 100 combined points on the two remaining types of weighted vehicles. Championship points are awarded in accordance with the Championship Points Schedule below. For example, a dog may earn 100 championship points using a wheeled cart, 40 championship points using a rail cart and 60 championship points on Snow.
4.United Weight Pull Champion Outstanding (UWPCHO). A dog must earn the United Weight Puller (UWP) title before it is eligible to earn points toward the United Weight Pull Champion Outstanding title. A dog must earn 100 championship points each on two different types of weighted vehicles. Championship points are awarded in accordance with the Championship Points Schedule below. For example, a dog may earn 100 championship points using a wheeled cart and 100 championship points using a rail cart.
5.United Weight Pull Champion Supreme (UWPCHS). A dog must earn the United Weight Puller (UWP) title before it is eligible to earn points toward the United Weight Pull Champion Supreme title. A dog must earn 100 championship points on each type of weighted vehicle (rail cart, sled, wheeled cart.) Championship points are awarded in accordance with the Championship Points Schedule below.
6. United Weight Pull Champion Excellent (UWPCHX). A dog must earn the United Weight Pull Champion (UWPCH) title before it is eligible to earn points toward the United Weight Pull Champion Excellent title. A dog must earn 250 championship points in accordance with the Championship Points Schedule below.
